The return!

As things currently look I will be returning to melbourne on the 24th of May (late at night) and will be staying there until June the 2nd, upon which Kana and I shall depart for Japan.

Please feel free to start booking up some of our time in Melbourne, there are many of you we wish to catch up with! Please start planning things!

I hope to get some R&R time between work and going to japan, a country where I will have to think and expend effort to communicate with everyone... including my girlfriends parents!!!

They apparently speak none, or very very limited english!

I dread some serious middle aged japanese gentleman tell me in gutteral tones in the traditional location of a men's hot spring, that I had better be taking care of his precious little girl or his mates with the ugly looking tats will carve me a new one...

I'm assuming my understanding of the translation might be something more like "Do you like kabuki theatre and samurai moves"

I'm sure some serious and lifethreatening misunderstandings are likely to take place...

Either way be sure to start putting in bookings on my (our) time (who knows it might be my last!) and wish us well on our forthcoming journey. I hope to see much of Japan before I am ritually decapitated to remove any dishonor from kana's family

Kana and I have decided to try our hand at some painting, we picked up some paints and brushes and canvases... this is what turned out so far....

300 was awesome!

It just feels like any sentence used to describe the movie should be made almost entirely of the word "man"

Something like "Some men using their manly talent created this awesome man made manly movie about men killing men awesomely manly .. men"

I suppose the other tact you could use would be to use phrases like "a testosterone explosion" and "a rollercoaster of an adrenaline ride" the list could go on.

Basically it was an awesomely stylised movie of he-man style action figures with heaps more points of articulation and realistic looking muscles that flex and pop being awesomely savage in the face of a massive horde.

I'm not sure i can describe it in a way that does it justice. I liked it, I thought they could have stayed on the screen fighting for ages longer.

It is bloody, there could be more story, but I suppose there didnt need to be.

Silver Screens

My workload looks like its going to slow down to something resembling normal on monday, that should be an awesome change from the last month and a half.

During this time I have managed to capture some time and with it see ghost rider and hot fuzz.

Hot Fuzz was one of the best comedies I have seen in a long time. If I sat down with a bunch of mates and tried to think of the biggest piss take of cop movies, thinking of the setting the characters and the badies I don't think we could have come up with sillier and funnier.

It starts very unassuming, I think Shaun of the Dead was better, but not by much :p

Ghost rider by contrast was not a particularly clever movie. Simple to the point, some average CG and some atmosphere. It was enjoyable, but dont go in with too high and expectation. I havn't read the comic before, and I'm assuming if I had, the details and intricacies of the story were no doubt left out of this silver screen portrayl.

I'm hungering for 300 and Spiderman 3!
